Madrid offers a diverse combination of history and entertainment. The following are a few places to visit in Spain’s capital:

- Puerta del Sol. Considered the center of Spain and the point where the country’s six major highways begin, Puerta del Sol is a large semicircular plaza featuring a statue of a bear and a tree, Madrid’s emblem.

- Puerta de Alcala. The gateway to Madrid, Puerta de Alcala is a neoclassical arch built for Charles III. Located next to El Retiro, Puerta de Alcalá serves as a gateway to Madrid.

- El Retiro. Madrid’s central park, El Retiro contains more than 15,000 trees and offers a respite from busy city life. The park also features a lake where visitors can rent a rowboat as well as numerous statues and fountains.
